Sunday, January 11, 2015 - 10:00 Exhibition Walkden Library The last deep coal mine in Britain will close in December 2015. Kellingley coal mines closure will bring to an end the once mighty coal industry, which powered the industrial revolution which gave us all the standard of living we enjoy today. To commemorate our mining heritage both nationally and locally the ivmp team will be holding exhibitions on the history of coal mining. Saturday, September 20, 2014 - 11:00 Local Salford History Day

The Irwell valley mining project will be attending the Salford local history day, The event will take place at St Augustine's school on Bolton Rd, Swinton. We will be joining other local history groups to celebrate our rich industrial heritage, There will be a series of stalls and exhibitions 11am to 5pm. Free entrance and food and drink available, Hope to see you all there.

Saturday, August 2, 2014 - 18:00 Moston Miners Soma Turkish Coal mining disaster benefit night Saturday 4th August 6pm til late at the Miners community arts music centre Teddington Road, Moston M40 0DJ, (Free parking) Bar, Food, Raffle, Stalls, Music and dance by special guest appearance Rubaiyat performing music influenced by arabic culture and cultures of the world. Guest speaker Tony hunt has been to Soma and will about the situation in the coal fields after the disaster.
