Thanks to the hard work of George Dawes (Historian and Genealogist) there are now 93 additional names on the plaques which include women and children who died in the colliery from the 1840’s to the 1920’s. This monument is to remember Clifton Hall Colliery disaster which claimed the lives of 178 workers, some as young as 13.
