The 2022 workers international memorial remembrance day will be on Saturday 23rd April. We will assemble 12:45pm at the Agecroft miners monument. Join us to remember all the coal miners who died or were injured in the local coal mines and throughout the world.

St Thomas church, Pendleton have kindly given the IVMP permission to erect a monument to remember the former pit.
The monument will contain a bench and a list of the coal miners who died in the pit.
The memorial will be placed in the church grounds, we will be working with local school children and will be holding an exhibition on coal mining in the local area.
We are currently fundraising for the monument which we hope to unveil in September 2022.
We would be extremely grateful for any money towards the cost of the memorial from individuals or organisations all donations will be acknowledged.

A massive thank you to all who attended the commemoration event on Saturday 5th February, the weather was truly appalling wet and windy. The plaques unveiled give due recognition to the children, women and men who died in the colliery from the 1840’s to the 1920’s. Once and again thank you all

We will be unveiling 2 plaques on Saturday 5th February 2022. We will assemble at 12:45 at the Agecroft colliery memorial on Agecroft Road (former pit entrance).
93 names are on the plaques which include women and children who died in the colliery from the 1840’s to the 1920’s. Please come and join us in this celebration

On Thursday the 18th June we held a small gathering to remember the 178 men and boys who died in the Clifton hall colliery disaster. It was the 135 anniversary of the tragedy which devastated the communities of Pendlebury, Clifton, Pendleton and the surrounding local areas.
We had the gathering at St Augustines church, Pendlebury (known as the miners cathedral).
A monument to the tragic events of that days stands in churchyard and 64 victims are buried in a mass grave.
We maintain the monument and have made a small memorial garden and care and maintain it on behalf of St Augustine’s Church.

We would like to invite you all to the Remembrance day 2 minute silence to remember the local miners who died in the first world war 1914-1919. We will be assembling at the war memorial on Agecroft road at 10:45 on Monday 14th November.
