St Thomas church, Pendleton have kindly given the IVMP permission to erect a monument to remember the former pit.
The monument will contain a bench and a list of the coal miners who died in the pit.
The memorial will be placed in the church grounds, we will be working with local school children and will be holding an exhibition on coal mining in the local area.
We are currently fundraising for the monument which we hope to unveil in September 2022.
We would be extremely grateful for any money towards the cost of the memorial from individuals or organisations all donations will be acknowledged.
