Closing of Kellingley colliery

Britain's last deep coal mine Kellingley colliery ceased production on the 18 December 2015. A march and rally was held on Saturday 19th December from Knottingley town hall to the Kellingley colliery miners welfare over 3000 people attended.

Unveiling of the agecroft memorial extension

The plaques unveiled give due recognition to the children, women and men who died in the colliery from the 1840's to the 1920's

Building The Agecroft Monument

This gallery show the hard work put into building the monument, with help from the wonderful children from St Augustine's Primary School and Salford City College. Many thanks to Salford City college apprentices who built the monument free of charge and also a massive thank you to St Augustine's C of E Primary School for all there ideas and hard work.

Clifton Hall Colliery Monument

Clifton Hall Colliery was in production from 1838 - 1929 the monument and memorial garden will remember the great disaster of 1885 and remember the coal miners killed and injured at the pit.

Exhibition Day

The Irwell Valley Mining Project (IVMP) exhibition day of our coal mining heritage. Many former miners and there family's came, there were old friendship rekindled and many memories shared.
