The Agecroft Colliery Miners Memorial Day event will take place on Saturday 20th April 2024 Assemble at the memorial on Agecroft Road, the former pit entrance. 12pm for a 12:30 start. We will then go to the Lion Brow cafe for refreshments – All welcome.
We have been granted a faculty/authorisation to place the bench in the church ground of St. Thomas. In consultation with the church, we will arrange a date to install an unveil the bench. A big thanks to Father Daniel Burton and Lee Cravenand all at St. Thomas
We are currently extending the Agecroft Memorial Garden which will be ready by Springtime.

The IVMP team will be unveiling 2 additional plaques at the Agecroft colliery memorial. Thanks to the hard work of George Dawes (Historian and Genealogist) there are now 93 additional names on the plaques which include women and children who died in the colliery from the 1840’s to the 1920’s. The unveiling and dedication ceremony will take place at the site of the former Clifton Hall Colliery ,Lums Lane, Pendlebury. This monument is to remember Clifton Hall Colliery disaster which claimed the lives of 178 workers, some as young as 13. Looking forward to seeing everyone there and thanks again Read more…
IVMP will be participating in the Salford histories festival Walkden Methodist Church, Manchester Road, Walkden, M38 9AN Saturday 21st September 2019 – 10am
The main assembly point is the city centre Market Place and bands and banners start to march from there to the Racecourse from about 8.30 am. Other assembly points are the Miners’ HQ at Red Hill near the railway station and the New Inn on the west of the city. Read more…
